2026 QS World University Rankings for Dentistry: 8 Chinese Universities Make the List, Sichuan University Enters Global Top 10 for the First Time

DentalGoodNews | The global higher education evaluation agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recently released the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject. In the Dentistry subject ranking announced this time, a total of 150 universities worldwide were selected, covering more than 30 countries and regions.

According to the list results, Chinese universities have a total of 8 institutions shortlisted in the field of dentistry, an increase of 1 from last year, maintaining a certain level of competitiveness within the global top tier.

Among them, the University of Hong Kong ranks 2nd globally, continuing to hold the top position in Asia. Among mainland Chinese universities, Sichuan University ranks 10th globally, entering the global top ten for the first time and ranking first in mainland China. Additionally, Wuhan University (33rd) and Peking University (45th) also entered the global top 50 tier.

Meanwhile, several mainland Chinese universities are ranked in the 51–150 range, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, and Southern Medical University, reflecting the overall expansion of China's dental medical education in terms of scale and tier structure.

QS officially pointed out that the World University Rankings by Subject are based on five core indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, H-index, and International Research Network. Among them, Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation reflect talent cultivation and industry evaluation, Citations per Paper and H-index measure research impact, and the International Research Network reflects the level of global collaboration of universities. This indicator system collectively forms the evaluation basis for the rankings.
