On April 8, 2026, during the 24th Western China International Dental Expo, Nobel Biocare, an implant brand under the large multinational dental group Envista, jointly held the "FOR Academic Navigation Forum – Standardized Clinical Pathways and Digital Practice in Complex Implant Scenarios" with the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR).

This forum focused on complex clinical scenarios in dental implantation, systematically exploring the application methods of standardized diagnosis and treatment alongside digital technology in clinical practice, centering on the logic of implant decision-making, operational pathways, and digital implementation processes. The forum was chaired by Professor Huang Yuanding from the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.

At the beginning of the forum, Professor Man Yi from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, delivered the first lecture, sharing on the topic "Application of Digital Bone Grafting in the Anterior Region." As a leading expert in the domestic implant field, Professor Man Yi, drawing on numerous clinical cases, detailed the application logic of visual digital bone augmentation technology in complex anterior bone augmentation surgeries. From precise preoperative planning and minimally invasive intraoperative bone harvesting to postoperative aesthetic restoration using Angulated Screw Channel (ASC) abutments, he provided a standardized, replicable clinical pathway for addressing the challenge of bone augmentation in anterior implantology, offering new insights for clinicians tackling the pain points of aesthetic implant treatment in the anterior region.

Subsequently, Professor Mo Anchun from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, shared on the topic "Implant Restoration for Missing Teeth – Fixed vs. Removable, Digital vs. Physical." Professor Mo Anchun systematically outlined the selection criteria for fixed implant and removable restorations in different scenarios of tooth loss.

He proposed that restoration-oriented planning is the core principle: emphasizing "teeth arrangement first, implant placement second," where all implant positions, angles, and depths are reversely designed based on the requirements of the final prosthesis; preoperative virtual teeth arrangement directly determines implant placement positions, and improper arrangement can lead to implants failing to seat or deviating from the ideal restorative axis. When selecting an implant system, universality and adaptability are emphasized: the Nobel PCC system is recommended for its robust structure, excellent self-tapping properties, and broad indications (including full-arch, partial-arch, anterior region, and simultaneous bone augmentation surgeries); a diameter of 3.75mm is preferred, balancing primary stability and bone volume compatibility.

Professor Ma Wei from the School of Stomatology, Fourth Military Medical University, focused on the clinically challenging area of full-arch implant restoration for edentulous patients, sharing key technical points for functional reconstruction in edentulism under the theme "Unlocking the Secret to Successful Functional Reconstruction in Edentulism: Synergistic Application of Implant Systems and Digital Technology."

He emphasized that full-arch implant restoration requires better achievement of the "beginning with the end in mind" goal through digital technology (treatment planning + surgical placement + immediate restoration). The DTX Studio (Clinic&Implant) design software and X-guide navigation system provide a complete closed-loop solution from initial diagnosis to final restoration. The varying anatomical conditions of edentulous/terminal dentition patients determine the diversity of required implant types. The Nobel PCC system offers a relatively most comprehensive range of parameter choices (lengths from 6.5mm to 18mm, diameters from 3.75mm to 5.5mm), meeting clinical requirements for short implants and tilted placement, while balancing operational convenience and primary stability.

Professor Fu Gang from the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, focusing on the clinical challenges of immediate implantation, shared the application of digital technology in preoperative assessment, osteotomy preparation, and temporary prosthesis design for immediate implants under the theme "Digital Design in Immediate Implantation." He emphasized that digital design should follow the "3A 2B 1P" principle, and implants need to be selected with deep threads and strong self-tapping properties to achieve ideal primary stability. The final restoration can be paired with Angulated Screw Channel (ASC) abutments, balancing the safety and convenience of screw-retained final restorations.

He proposed that guided implant placement is a systematic project. The use of digital surgical guides should progress from simple to complex, and experience needs to be summarized through practice. Digital technology plays a key role in improving the success rate and aesthetic outcomes of immediate implantation, providing scientific and standardized technical references for clinicians performing immediate implant surgery.

This forum focused on actual clinical needs. All shared content closely revolved around the two core themes of "standardization" and "digitalization" in complex implant scenarios, covering both innovative applications of cutting-edge technologies and emphasizing the standardization of clinical pathways, building a high-level academic exchange and skill enhancement platform for oral implant practitioners.

During the forum, the Nobel PCC implant, as a universal and versatile implant solution, was highly favored and recommended by the experts. The Nobel PCC implant demonstrated adaptability advantages across all clinical scenarios including the anterior region, posterior region, and edentulous cases, providing efficient solutions for complex implant restorations.

Anterior Region: The Nobel PCC has excellent self-tapping properties, allowing easy achievement of ideal primary stability in anterior immediate implantation; paired with ASC abutment restoration, it enables screw retention while precisely shaping a natural emergence profile, achieving excellent aesthetic outcomes.

Posterior Region: The large-diameter Nobel PCC implant can withstand high occlusal forces in the molar region and achieve favorable emergence profiles when restorative space is limited; its full-body double-lead dense thread design allows for excellent primary stability by fully utilizing residual alveolar bone in internal/external sinus floor elevation procedures; short implants in the posterior can avoid complex vertical bone augmentation; its self-tapping characteristics also suit posterior immediate implantation, easily achieving ideal primary stability.

Edentulism: As Nobel Biocare's first internal conical connection implant specifically designed for immediate loading in edentulous cases, the Nobel PCC can achieve good primary stability in both maxillary and mandibular arches, enabling immediate loading in edentulism. Paired with Nobel Biocare's Multi-unit Abutment, it can simplify chairside procedures, easily achieving one-stage fixed restoration; short implants are suitable for the All-on-4 Plus protocol, effectively avoiding distal cantilevers; long implants can easily handle patients with various bone quality conditions; in the maxilla, tilted placement can fully utilize the better bone quality in the anterior region for retention, or pterygoid implants can be used to further enhance stability.

In the future, Nobel Biocare will continue to collaborate with FOR to persistently promote academic research and technological innovation in the field of oral implantology, injecting more professional strength into improving the level of oral healthcare services in China.
