
The dental market in May saw a notable correction. The number of new institutions dropped sharply by 13.5% compared to April, while the number of closures surged to 274, more than doubling. Overall net growth narrowed to 801 from the previous high, a decline of approximately 31% month-over-month.
From a provincial perspective, Shandong, Guangdong, Hebei, Henan, and Sichuan remained the main drivers of new additions. However, Beijing has experienced net negative growth for several consecutive months, highlighting a widening divergence between municipalities and leading provinces. The industry is shifting from "quantitative expansion" to "structural differentiation," and the underlying drivers warrant deep reflection.
