On July 13, DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN) learned from Angelalign Technology Inc. (6699.HK, hereinafter referred to as "Angelalign") that Angelalign has obtained favorable first-instance rulings in two patent infringement lawsuits filed by Align Technology, Inc. The Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court rejected all claims of the plaintiff Align Technology, determining that Angelalign's aligner products and design methods, angelAttach™ precision attachment system, masterForce comprehensive force system, and iOrtho™ digital orthodontic design system do not fall within the scope of the patents in question and do not constitute patent infringement.
The first-instance rulings by the Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court occurred against the backdrop of a series of multi-jurisdictional patent lawsuits initiated by Align Technology against Angelalign starting in 2025.
According to previous reports by DGN, in August 2025, Align Technology filed a lawsuit in a Texas court in the United States, accusing Angelalign of infringing five core patents. It subsequently took legal actions in Europe and China, seeking injunctions and financial compensation. Angelalign denied all allegations and stated it would actively defend itself.
On May 12, 2026, the Düsseldorf Local Division of the Unified Patent Court in Europe rejected Align Technology's application for a temporary injunction seeking to halt Angelalign's sales of the A7 Premolar Extraction Solution in the European market, citing insufficient evidence. The court noted that all evidence submitted by Align Technology consisted of screenshots from official websites, product brochures, and promotional materials from webinars, without any experimental mechanical evaluation of specific aligners, failing to meet the evidentiary standard for a temporary injunction.
Angelalign stated that the company has adhered to a clinical-driven innovation heritage for over two decades, earning the appreciation of clinicians worldwide and the respect of competitors. The company's cutting-edge products include the award-winning angelButton solution, angelHook solution, the A6 Anterior Guidance Mandibular Advancement Solution (which has celebrated its 10th anniversary), the angel KiD solution for children, and the Intelligent Root System (IRS). The company remains committed to fostering fair and healthy competition in the market while continuously improving the quality and accessibility of clinical oral care.
