DentalGoodNews | Recently, the Oral Homeostatic Medicine Institute of Fujian Medical University was officially inaugurated at the Qishan Campus. The institute is established under Fujian Medical University School of Stomatology, aiming to promote systematic research and translational application of the concept of "homeostatic medicine" in the oral field.
According to public information, Homeostatic Medicine was first proposed by Wang Songling's team in May 2022, emphasizing the transformation of disease prevention and diagnosis models through maintaining and reconstructing the dynamic balance at the molecular, cellular, organ, and overall body levels. The newly established Oral Homeostatic Medicine Institute focuses on oral microecology and oral health balance as entry points, emphasizing exploration of the regulatory relationship between local oral homeostasis and systemic health, and attempting to construct a disease prevention and treatment research framework with "oral-systemic" linkage.
The institute is affiliated with Fujian Medical University School of Stomatology, with Professor Chen Jiang, Chairman of the Oral Implantology Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association, serving as dean, and Professor Huang Xiaojing, Dean of Fujian Medical University School of Stomatology, serving as executive dean. The institute will integrate scientific research and clinical resources both inside and outside the university, promote interdisciplinary collaborative research, and serve the development of oral medicine-related disciplines.
It is reported that the institute's academic committee will be established simultaneously. Academician Wang Songling serves as chairman of the academic committee, with Professor Zhou Xuedong, member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, serving as vice chairman, and committee members composed of multiple experts in oral medicine and related fields. The academic committee will participate in the demonstration of the institute's development plans and provide academic guidance on major research directions and projects.
Fujian Medical University stated that the establishment of the Oral Homeostatic Medicine Institute will provide new theoretical perspectives and research pathways for oral disease prevention and treatment research, promote multidisciplinary cross-integration, and assist the coordinated development of basic research and clinical research in oral medicine.
