Good Teeth News |Recently, Mr. Jiang, a man from Hangzhou, posted a video on social media, stating that he has submitted a lawsuit to the People's Court of Xuhui District, Shanghai, demanding that Align (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. (the Chinese entity of the parent company of Invisalign) legally provide all his personal information related to orthodontic and orthognathic treatment.
In the video, Mr. Jiang said that during his orthodontic and orthognathic treatment, he found that two institutions used unlicensed doctors. Subsequently, he asked Invisalign for the relevant medical record information. According to the screenshot of the email content shown in the video, Mr. Jiang cited the "Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law of the People's Republic of China", demanding that Invisalign provide the following information within the legal time limit: all the aligner treatment plans designed for him (including the ClinCheck plan), the production data of all the aligners, and the actual doctor certification information for the plan design and operation in the Invisalign system.
According to the video screenshot, Invisalign stated in the email reply that the person in charge of Mr. Jiang's medical information is his attending doctor, and suggested that Mr. Jiang contact the attending doctor or the medical institution to obtain the medical information.
Mr. Jiang responded that he did not agree: "I contacted the institution, and the institution said there was no such doctor. Then I found this doctor, and he also said he had never treated me. The Korean doctor also said he had never treated me. Then how were my aligners produced?" Mr. Jiang believes that this way of handling is "like buying a house without getting the property certificate or buying a car without getting the instruction manual".
According to a previous report by Good Teeth, Align Technology, the parent company of Invisalign, recently reached a settlement agreement of $31.75 million in an antitrust lawsuit. In the third quarter of 2025, Align Technology achieved a revenue of $996 million (approximately RMB 7.068 billion), and the shipment volume of invisible aligners reached 647,800 cases.
As of the time of publication, Align (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. has not issued a public statement on this matter, and there is also no public information on whether the court has accepted the case.
