DentalGoodNews|July 15, 2026, Mitsui Chemicals announced the integration of its Dental 3D Printing business and part of its dental materials business in Japan into its consolidated subsidiary Sun Medical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sun Medical"), positioning Sun Medical as the hub of the Group's Dental 3D Printing business in Japan.

According to the integration plan, Mitsui Chemicals' wholly-owned subsidiary Kulzer GmbH's Japanese entity, Kulzer Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kulzer Japan"), will transfer its 3D Printer and 3D Printing Material business to Sun Medical. Post-integration, Sun Medical will centrally undertake the R&D and manufacturing of 3D Printing Materials, as well as the sales functions for 3D Printers and related materials, establishing an integrated operational system. The company stated that this integration will help more quickly channel feedback from dental practitioners into the R&D process and accelerate the development and launch of new products.

In recent years, with the development of digital dentistry, Dental 3D Printing has attracted attention. Mitsui Chemicals indicated that, facing the shortage of dental technicians in Japan, this technology is expected to reduce the workload of dental laboratory work, shorten production time, and improve the consistency of finished product quality. In 2025, the first material for manufacturing 3D-printed complete dentures in Japan was included in the medical insurance catalog; in June 2026, the scope of application for complete dentures made with this material was further expanded. According to Mitsui Chemicals, this integration is expected to improve the speed of new product development and launch, enhance satisfaction for patients and dental practitioners, and promote the development of dental healthcare in Japan.

Furthermore, Mitsui Chemicals stated that this integration is part of its strategy to strengthen the oral care business. The company plans to build this business into the third pillar of its "Life & Healthcare Solutions" segment, forming a high-profit, high-efficiency business system. According to previous reports by DENTALGOODNEWS (Leading Dental Industry Media, DGN), in June 2026, Mitsui Chemicals planned to acquire all equity and related business assets of U.S. dental product manufacturer Ultradent Products, Inc. for approximately $900 million (approximately RMB 6.094 billion). Upon completion of the transaction, Ultradent and its global business network, including Ultradent China in Guangzhou, China, are expected to be integrated into the Mitsui Chemicals Group management system.
