DentalGoodNews|On October 12, during the 2026 "Vitality China Research Tour" Guangxi themed interview activity organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Kuang Hai, Deputy Party Secretary of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, introduced that the "Oral Medicine ASEAN Multilingual AI Simultaneous Interpretation System" led by the hospital can support real-time mutual translation of more than 10 Southeast Asian languages.
According to China Daily website, the system is used to eliminate language barriers for ASEAN dental physicians in academic seminars and technical training. The hospital also uses an "AI + VR" virtual-real integrated simulated diagnosis and treatment system, allowing ASEAN dental doctors to simulate clinical operation scenarios through VR devices without cross-border travel.
In addition, relying on the Guangxi Oral Virtual Reality Technology Engineering Research Center, the hospital has built an AI + VR virtual diagnosis and treatment training system and developed a complete set of oral clinical practical courses; with the resources of a European Union higher education cooperation project, the hospital has also established an online teaching resource sharing platform, forming a training model of "online theoretical learning + virtual practical training + offline on-site further study." ASEAN physicians can take courses remotely or go to the Wuxiang New Campus for further study.
In terms of regional cooperation, the hospital has hosted the China-ASEAN International Oral Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Forum for 9 consecutive sessions; since 1992, it has trained more than 200 oral medicine professionals for 15 ASEAN countries and regions, and its cooperation network has extended to medical institutions and higher education institutions in 35 countries worldwide. On the clinical side, more than 50 ASEAN patients have so far received AI Dental implant robot diagnosis and treatment at the hospital, and this domestically produced intelligent medical equipment has been implemented in multiple medical institutions in Vietnam and Singapore.
Deputy Party Secretary Kuang Hai believes that RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) provides favorable institutional conditions for cross-border cooperation in digital healthcare. The hospital will advance two industry-university-research cooperation initiatives: first, upgrade the aforementioned forum by adding special sections on scientific research achievement transformation and oral industry development in addition to academic exchange, and build a supporting dental medical device matchmaking and display platform; second, promote universities, research institutes, enterprises, and ASEAN partners to carry out joint scientific research on oral diseases with high incidence in ASEAN, and jointly develop medical equipment and Consumables adapted to local market needs.
