This growth rate exceeds the overall 26% growth level of U.S. dentists during the same period, with the expansion rate of pediatric specialty talent approximately 4.9 times the overall industry growth rate.

This rapid supply-side expansion is attracting capital into this niche segment. According to previous DGN reports, Lone Peak Dental Group, one of the largest pediatric specialty dental Dental Service Organization (DSO) in the United States, completed a $170 million refinancing in July 2026. The funds will be used to support its future acquisition plans and further expand its nationwide pediatric specialty dental service network.

Beyond the growth in numbers, the structural shifts within the U.S. dentist workforce also deserve attention. The ADA HPI report shows that from 2001 to 2025, the proportion of female practitioners among all practicing dentists in the United States rose from 16.0% to 39.4%, while the proportion of practitioners aged 65 and above increased from 8.7% to 15.2%.
