DentalGoodNews|In August 2026, dental implant company BioHorizons announced the addition of Prolifica™ allogeneic growth factor to its biomaterial product line. This product is designed to provide an initial high-concentration supply followed by sustained support for clinical hard tissue regeneration through a natural biphasic release mechanism.

According to the company, Prolifica retains at least 16 unique proteins known to promote cell growth, division, and bone remodeling processes through a specialized processing technique. Unlike traditional materials with a single release mechanism, this product produces a "surge" of proteins and growth factors upon initial implantation to initiate the healing cascade, followed by long-term regenerative support through sustained gradual release.

In terms of clinical indications, available data indicates that Prolifica can be used both in standalone bone grafting procedures and in combination with autogenous bone or other types of allograft materials. BioHorizons CEO Steve Boggan stated that as population aging drives increased demand for complex hard tissue regeneration, this solution aims to enhance surgical predictability. Jason Cordell, the company's Senior Director of Biomaterials, noted that high-concentration factor retention is a core feature of the product's processing technology.

As of the time of reporting, the company has not disclosed the suggested retail price of Prolifica in the Chinese market or the timeline for formal regulatory approval for market entry.
