DentalGoodNews|On October 10, the Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA) issued an announcement (Kou Yi Hui Zi [2026] No. 12), stating that 16 Group Standards, including the "Expert Consensus on Aesthetic Indicators for Anterior Maxillary Tooth Restoration," will be officially implemented starting November 1, 2026.
Among them, there are 4 items in the restoration and digital direction: The "Expert Consensus on Aesthetic Indicators for Anterior Maxillary Tooth Restoration" points out that the crown length of the maxillary central incisor is generally 9.0–12.0 mm, the width is 8.0–11.0 mm, and the width-to-length ratio is 0.75–0.85, with 0.8 generally considered to have the best aesthetic effect. In the "Technical Specification for Digital Model Fabrication in Fixed Dental Restoration," the sources of digital models cover three types: intraoral scanning, plaster model scanning, and impression scanning, and quality standards for three-dimensional printed models are provided; implant-supported fixed restorations are not within the scope of application.
The "Guidelines for the Construction and Application of Virtual Patients in Dental Restoration" standardizes the data acquisition and registration construction of virtual patients. The "Expert Consensus on the Clinical Application of Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Cephalometric Radiograph Analysis Software" applies to dental practitioners and software developers, stipulating that such software can only serve as an auxiliary analysis tool, and landmark localization results should not be used as formal clinical diagnostic results before review by the attending physician.
There are 4 items in the implant direction: In the "Expert Consensus on the Clinical Application of Laser Therapy for Peri-Implantitis," recommendations for laser treatment of various types of peri-implantitis are provided, and operating specifications for erbium lasers, diode lasers, etc. are listed. The "Expert Consensus on Guided Bone Regeneration Technology for Repairing Alveolar Bone Defects" requires that the barrier membrane coverage extend at least 2–3 mm beyond the edge of the bone graft material; bone defects due to periodontitis and peri-implantitis are not within the scope of application. The "Expert Consensus on the Clinical Application of Dental Implant Robots" points out that dental implant robot surgery is suitable for patients with partial or complete edentulism, and insufficient mouth opening may affect the procedure. The "Expert Consensus on Oral Implant Technology in the Maxillary Pterygoid Plate Region" points out that implants need to pass through the 15–20 mm pterygoid plate region, and it is suitable for patients with severe bone atrophy or bone defects in the posterior maxillary region.
There are 3 items in the endodontics direction: The "Clinical Guidelines for Root Canal Treatment" points out that the applicable subjects are adult permanent teeth, complication management and retreatment are not within the scope, and it also requires that a periapical radiograph be taken immediately after obturation. In the "Expert Consensus on Retrieval Techniques for Separated Instruments in Root Canals," ultrasonic retrieval methods and套管 retrieval methods are recommended, which must be performed with the assistance of a dental operating microscope. The "Expert Consensus on Regenerative Endodontic Procedure for Immature Permanent Teeth" covers indications, operating procedures, and postoperative follow-up.
The remaining 5 items involve oral and maxillofacial surgery, mucosal diseases, and cleft lip and palate: In the "Expert Consensus on Preoperative Doppler Ultrasound Evaluation of Free Flaps in Oral and Maxillofacial-Head and Neck Surgery," preoperative color Doppler ultrasound evaluation of recipient and donor site blood vessels is standardized. The "Expert Consensus on the Treatment and Management of Oral Diseases in Patients with Reduced Saliva" is intended for patients with unstimulated salivary flow rate ≤0.1 mL/min and puts forward a total of 44 recommendations. The "Expert Consensus on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment of Chronic Nonspecific Cheilitis" provides recommendations for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment. The "Expert Consensus on Early Screening and Early Diagnosis of Malignant Transformation of Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders" proposes combining autofluorescence, exfoliative cytology, and other examinations on the basis of visual and tactile examination to clarify the biopsy site. The "Expert Consensus on Surgical Treatment of Cleft Palate and Palatal Fistula" points out that when the palatal fistula diameter is greater than 3 cm, local tissue flaps or pedicled adjacent flaps are not recommended.
